On 9th September
The first Continuation Aalto Project was held at Aalto Studio in Helsinki, Finland on September 9, 2024.
This project was planned in the collaboration with Ms. Maiju, a female architect from Finland, with the
cooperation of Mr. Jonas, an Aalto architectural restoration specialist belonging to the Aalto Foundation.
With the cooperation, we constructed a container garden in the theater designed by finnish architect Alvar
Aalto, and held lectures, film screenings, and workshops. Please see below for details on the day.
2024年9月9日に、フィンランドヘルシンキにあるアアルトスタジオにて第一回目のコンティニューアアルトプロジェクトを実施しました。
本プロジェクトでは、アアルト財団所属のアアルト建築修復専門家ヨーナスさんの協力のもと、フィンランド出身の女性建築家マイユさんと
共に計画いたしました。
皆様のご協力のもと、建築巨匠アルヴァアアルトが設計した劇場にコンテナガーデンを施工しレクチャー、映画上映、ワークショップなどを
行いました。当日の様子については、以下をご覧ください。
Lecture Time
The Finnish architect Maiju Suomi, an architect and educator actives in the field of environmental architecture,
explained the new perspective of architecture that connects nature and culture in an easy-to-understand manner for
the participants of the middle students. She also touched on her experiences in Japan and talked about her own
architectural aesthetics.
環境建築分野で活躍する建築家であり教育者であるフィンランドの建築家、マイユ・スオミさんは中学生の参加者に対して、自然と文化を つなげる新しい建築の視点についてわかりやすく説明していただきました。また、日本での経験について触れ、ご自身の建築美学について 熱く語っていただきました。
環境建築分野で活躍する建築家であり教育者であるフィンランドの建築家、マイユ・スオミさんは中学生の参加者に対して、自然と文化を つなげる新しい建築の視点についてわかりやすく説明していただきました。また、日本での経験について触れ、ご自身の建築美学について 熱く語っていただきました。
Watanabe touched on the plants that appear on the elevations of the buildings of Alvar Aalto, and explained that
when restoring Aalto's buildings, plants should also be restored in the same way, based on the significance of
container gardens. He also explained on the current situation of the Imatra Church,which has grown mold due to
the effects of global warming and needs to be repaired, and appealed to the children about the need to restore
Aalto's architecture.
渡邊はアアルト建築の立面に現れる植物について触れ、アアルト建築修復の際に植物も同様に修復されるべきだと、コンテナガーデンの意義を 踏まえて説明いたしました。また、地球温暖化の影響によりカビが増え修復が必要な状況に陥ったイマトラ教会の現状に触れ、子どもたちに アアルト建築修復の必要性について呼びかけました。

Movie Time
A short movie titled “ContinuAalto -Save Imatra,” produced by students of the Taishi Watanabe Laboratory, was
shown after the lecture.
Mr. Jonas, who is actually involved in the restoration of the buildings of Alvar Aalto, gave his impressions of
the film and explained the current state of restoration of Aalto's buildings.
講義の後は、渡邊大志研究室の学生らが制作した「ContinuAalto -Save Imatra」というショートムービーを上映しました。実際にアアルト建築の修復に関わっているヨーナスさんに映画の感想をいただき、アアルト建築の修復状況についても説明していただきました。

Workshop Time
＜映画上映＞と＜三軒茶屋で製作したVR体験＞＜Bento clock・防音壁の展示＞、また続けて＜世界のお茶＞を販売させていただき、多くの方に大変好評いただきました。

2月28日(日）、三軒茶屋ふれあい広場にて行われる三茶ひなまつりに我々の小さな映画小屋が登場します。
オリジナル映画と共に、商店街の多くの方に協力して頂いたVR映像(360度立体映像)を上映します。

Students enjoyed a lighting-making workshop using leftover materials from the container garden after watching the movie.

Students enjoy making lighting while drinking green tea brought from Japan. In between workshops, we talked about our impressions of the movie and reflected on the content of the lecture.

At the end of the workshop, we took photo with the 17 participating junior high school students, two teachers, Ms.Maiju Suomi and Mr.Jonas Malmberg. Each student took home an earth pot which was created by Xover Products, and a plant of container garden, along with the lighting they had made in workshop. Thank you very much for your participation and cooperation.

Preperation
This is a model made when the container garden design was finalized. Considering the colors of Aalto's architecture, we decided to decorate it with white and red flowers. We also designed the container garden frame to be decorated with vines so that it would be in harmony with the theater lawn.
コンテナガーデンのデザインが確定した際に制作した模型です。アアルト建築の色味を考慮し、白と赤の花を飾ることを決めました。また、コンテナガーデンのフレームにツル植物を飾ることで、劇場の芝生と調和を成すように設計しました。

After the model was made, perspectives were drawn to share images among the planners.
模型制作後は、企画者同士のイメージを共有するためにパースを描きました。

It takes approximately one hour to produce one container frame.
一つのコンテナフレームの製作にかかる時間はおおよそ1時間です。
On the day of the event, it took about four hours to decorate the two container frames plus the plants.
当日は２つのコンテナフレームに加え、植物の飾りつけに4時間ほどかかりました。
Plants were selected following Mayu's advice of ivy plants, chrysanthemums, and edible plants. The plants used for this container garden were as follows. ivy plants (Ivy hedera, Silver fall), flowers (White Chrysanthemums, Red Kalanchoe, Alstroemeria, Red Leucospermum, Crocosmia, Giant Amanas, Anigozanthos Flavidus, Orange Gerbera, Orange Lilies), Edible plants (Parsley, Basil, Mint, Till). plants were all procured from local florists.
植物は、ツタ植物・菊類・食用植物というマイユさんの助言に従い、選別しました。今回のコンテナガーデンに使用した植物は以下の通りです。ツタ植物（アイビーヘデラ、シルバーフォール）、花（白の菊、赤のカランコエ、アルストロメリア、赤のリューコスペルマム、クロコスミア、オオアマナ、アニゴザントス・フラビダス、オレンジ色のガーベラ、オレンジ色のユリ）、食用植物（パセリ、バジル、ミント、ティル）こちらの植物はすべて現地の花屋さんで調達いたしました。

-三軒茶屋茶沢通りクリスマスイベント-
We organized a Christmas event for children on 5 December 2021 It was a great opportunity to meet local people face to face after a long time and to enjoy the living city with everyone.
2021年12月5日に子どもたちのためのクリスマスイベントを開催しました。久々に地元の方とも対面でお目にかかり、生きている街を皆様と楽しむ機会とすることができました。

We designed a tent with a masked woman wearing "Halo (Xover Products No.001)" as a symbol of the whole event.
「Halo（Xover Products No.001)」 でマスクした女性のテントをデザインし、会場全体のシンボルとしました。
In the tent, Xover Products were on sale. "Mitosis (Xover Products No. 006)" was a particularly popular educational toy, and "Imago (Xover Products No. 004)" was also sold.
テント下では、 Xover Products を販売しました。実際に手に取って色々な使い方を想像できる体験型ショーケースを設け、特に知育玩具として 「Mitosis（Xover Products No.006）」 が人気を集めていました。他にも 「Imago（Xover Products No.004）」 などもお買い求めいただきました。
We also held a workshop for children to make Xover Products. By freely combining circles of various sizes and fabric scraps, they were able to create objects such as crowns, bangles and ornaments that could be used in a variety of ways.
また、子ども向けのXover Products制作ワークショップも行いました。 大小様々な円と布の端切れを自由に組み合わせることで、冠や腕輪、オーナメントなど子どもが様々な使い方を考えられるようなオブジェクトをつくりました。
